February 2013 Training

I have finally, finally played my first NETBALL game in 18months!!  I was sooo happy.  That has been my aim all along to get back into netball and I have done it!

This month I have played 3 games of social netball (only 10min quarters compared to 15mins that I will be playing during the season).  Played lots of touch rugby, I ran another 10km run and beat the hour! 59.36mins was so happy.

Also completed a very testing fitness test with the helicopter rescue guys – details below.

January 2013 Training

One great thing I did in January is sign up to a 10km run series.  So far I haven’t run over 6.5km and haven’t really run that much (none in December!).  So I will have to run 10km in Jan, Feb and March.  Something to work towards.

My first 10km run was on Jan 21st – my goal was to just finish and if I had to walk to finish it I would.  But I ran the ENTIRE way! Couldn’t believe I actually ran 10km.  I motivated myself by thinking only 10months ago, there was a chance I wouldn’t even be able to walk properly again if I didn’t heal properly SO that pushed me on a lot and I completed it in 1hr and 10 seconds.

I didn’t actually do any running this month!  My foot was great, it was getting used to the boxing and heavier weight training and jumping.

Here are most of my trainings for December:

November 2012 Training

Mon + Fridays I did boxing (which I absolutely LOVE), Tues + Thurs I did strength training with my netball crew, Touch rugby on Thurs nights and Sundays I ran.  Wed + Sat’s were rest days (so important!).

I also started getting massages from my netball trainer.  These were absolutely key.  Believe it or not we have learnt that my left leg (I had surgery on my left foot) was actually still more dominant and stronger than my right leg.  This put even more strain on my left calf, that really built back out after getting out of the moonboot, but as she put it, it was full of crap.  This needed to be continually worked out, and calf raises were key to building it back up strongly.
